In addition, the 95th Academy Awards also presented the golden award to other incredible films and artists. Brendan Fraser earned his remarkable comeback as he swept away the audience for his performance in Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale, which earned Fraser an Oscar for Best Actor. The acclaimed film based on the play written by Samuel D. Hunter, also won the Oscar for Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling, executed impeccably by Adrien Morot, Judy Chin, and Annemarie Bradley-Sherron.
One big competitor in every market across the globe was All Quiet on the Western Front which won the Oscar for Best International Feature Film as well as the Oscar for Best Original Song created by Volker Bertelmann. The epic war drama directed by Edward Berger and also written by Edward Berger, as well as Lesley Paterson and Ian Stokell, also won the oscar for Best Achievement in Cinematography, earned by James Friend. Last but not least, All Quiet on the Western Front won yet another Oscar for Best Achievement in Production Design, credited to Christian M. Goldbeck and Ernestine Hipper.
Moreover, the Oscar for Best Original Song was awarded to M.M. Keerabavani and Chandrabose for ‘Naatu Naatu’ which gives India recognition for its film titled RRR. The awards don’t end there, for movie-making has a long list of roles necessary to make it this far. Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio won Best Animated Feature, and director Sarah Polley’s Women Talking won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. Directors Tom Berkeley and Ross White won the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film, while Guneet Monga and Kartiki Gonsalves won the Oscar for Best Documentary (short subject) for their acclaimed The Elephant Whisperers. Top Gun: Maverick won the Oscar for Best Sound, and costume designer Ruth Carter took the podium for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever for Best Costume Design.
Charlie Mackesy and Mathew Freud also celebrated their film titled The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse which won the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film. Director Daniel Roher and producers Odessa Rhae and Shane Boris celebrated their project titled Navalny, which won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature. Last but not least, James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects, credited to creator James Cameron, visual effects production senior supervisor Joe Letteri, visual effects senior supervisor Eric Saindon, and animation visual effects supervisor Richard Baneham.

All Quiet On The Western Front is the only nominee that never played in cinemas, and guess what, it won four Oscars, including the Academy Award for Best International Feature. This Netflix production offers an incredibly raw and intense look at the reality of World War I. The story follows a young German soldier whose perception of war is far from the truth, and only when he finds himself on the bloody frontline discover the harrowing nature of war. If you enjoy historical films, All Quiet On The Western Front is a must-watch.

His latest masterpiece, Triangle Of Sadness, follows a fashion model celebrity couple who embarks on a rather eventful and insane cruise for the super-rich. Some say this is a completely new type of horror movie, and we agree. Triangle Of Sadness is nominated in three categories at the 95th Academy Awards.
Women Talking was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, and it won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. The story is heavy and traumatic but incredibly powerful as it centers around a group of religious and isolated women who face the brutal reality of their faith. The cast is also packed with talent; Rooney Mara, Clarie Foy, Jessie Buckley, and Frances McDormand to name a few.

Nominated for nine Oscars, The Banshees Of Inisherin is one of those movies we can not wait to watch once it is released on streaming. The wicked and comedic story of two lifelong friends is turned on its head when one of them suddenly ends their relationship. Colin Farrell and Kerry Condon deserve recognition for their performances, their chemistry on screen is that good.
Another nominee unfortunately not available on streaming right now is Steven Spielberg's potentially most personal masterpieces to date. The Fabelmans is loosely based on Steven Spielberg’s childhood growing up in a post-World War II era. Sammy Fabelman, a young man, discovers a devastating family secret that turns his attention to movies in order to cope with the truth. This coming-of-age family drama is yet another Spielberg film that recieved seven Oscar nominations.

Avatar: The Way Of Water is visually groundbreaking and one of the most creative films ever made. The story follows Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and his newfound family on the moon of Pandora, and the constant threat always lurking in the skies. This long-awaited sequel was nominated in four categories at Academy Awards, one of them being Best Picture. It won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects.

Perhaps one of the most groundbreaking and relevant documentaries in present day geopolitics, Navalny is a real-life documentary that explores Alexei Navalny, a brave anti-authoritarian Russian opposition leader who was nearly poisoned to death with a nerve agent called Novichok. The world followed Alexei Navalny tell his truth about the attempted assassination by the Russian Elite, and the risk that his discoveries bring to his life do not stop him from expressing his voice of justice, even if that puts his life in prison, let alone risks his life yet again. Awarded the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature, this thrilling documentary is a must watch.
This hidden gem might not be as hidden anymore. Nominated for six Oscars, Tár is possibly one of Cate Blacnhett’s best performances. She plays the renowned composer Lydia Tár, widely considered one of the greatest living composers-conductors. The story centers around her life as she leads the way in a male-dominated industry while also balancing work and family life.
Top Gun: Maverick was one of the highest-grossing movies of 2022. The long-awaited sequel continues the story of Maverick who is still pushing the limits as a top naval aviator. Tom Cruise is in a league of his own when it comes to doing stunts, using minimal green screen and CGI shots during in-flight sequences, Top Gun: Maverick is one of his most impressive performances.
